NoMetSyn (No Metabolic Syndrome)

NoMetSyn is a natural alternative to the drug metformin which is commonly used to improve insulin sensitivity in horses and ponies. Insulin resistance is one of the most common predisposing factors in equine laminitis and Cushing's Disease.

NoMetSyn is a blend of plant extracts which have proven highly effective in normalising blood insulin concentrations in insulin resistance equines.

Additionally insulin resistant horses and ponies develop distorted hooves characteristic of chronic founder following an episode of laminitis. This distortion persists and is unaffected by the drug metformin.

However, NoMetSyn not only normalises insulin in the blood but also normalises the hoof horn growth so distorted hooves regain their normal shape and function.

Typical appearance of chronic founder feet after corrective trimming which exposes the crescents of laminar horn at the toes. Despite being trimmed correctly every five weeks he still suffered from laminitis from time to time.

The same pony as shown in the picture above. He started receiving NoMetSyn six months previously and has not had his feet trimmed since! The feet could do with a trim but there is no longer the distortion characteristic of chronic founder: his feet have grown downwards compared to growing forwards previously. He has not suffered an attack of laminitis in the interim.

NoMetSyn is a powder, to be mixed with the feed.

Feed 6.4gm/200kg bodyweight/day for 7 days

then

1.5gm/200kg bodyweight daily thereafter.

A 200gm pot will last a 300kg pony 66 days.
